SNIF

SNIF – SHARP NEEDLE INTRADERMAL FAT GRAFTING

SNIF stands for “Sharp Needle Intradermal Fat grafting.” This technique was developed and published in recent years by Dr Tonnard and Dr Verpaele (Sharp Needle Intradermal Fat Grafting, Aesthetic Surgery Journal, 2013). The technique involves using small fat particles to fill up wrinkles and grooves in the face via small needle injections. The process is the same as for artificial fillers (e.g. hyaluronic acid), except we use the body’s own natural fat. The procedure can be performed separately or in combination with other lipofilling techniques and surgical procedures to the face. Typical locations include the small grooves around the mouths, the nasolabial fold (transition between your upper lip and chin), grooves in the cheeks, etcetera.

SNIF is also used to give the edges of the lips a bit more definition, with or without increasing the volume of the lips themselves. Finally, SNIF is often used to treat the vertical grooves in the aging cleavage and neck.
